A challenge for Midnight Video 3

Midnight Video 3 will be speeding up the information highway this coming Sunday, but we thought it'd be a great idea to give you a glimpse of what's to come.

Which of these films will we find better?

Is it A)
...or B)

... and just what will we make of the little-seen debut feature from a celebrated pop promo director?

...well, not technically, but if you didn't know, we have a Facebook page now where you can leave comments or join in on the discussions.

The story behind Sorcerer

For those familiar with Friedkin's Sorcerer, but more importantly our second show, here is an interesting little nugget of information about the film from the horse's proverbial.
There are some spoilers so if you like to watch a movie fresh and cold then we'd recommend you leave this until you have ticked Sorcerer off your 'to watch' list (and listened to show two of Midnight Video), otherwise please enjoy.

Alex Cox approves...

Thanks very much to Slippery Jack of the Mondo Movie forum who reminded me that Alex Cox stated his appreciation of Sorcerer on one of his old Moviedrome introductions.
His declaration begins at 1m 10s and I think it's fair to say that we heartily agree with his assessment.

Midnight Video 2

As a little Easter treat Midnight Video thought it would be the done thing to get our second podcast up and out there for the bank holiday weekend.  So if you're lazing in the sunshine or toiling behind the wheel on a motorway at the very least you'll be able to get your sonic fanzine fix of some overlooked movie gems.

As before right click on the post's title to download or even better subscribe to us on iTunes and leave some feedback; words or star ratings, whatever takes your fancy.

In this second edition of the show we click our heels and come to attention for The Black Gestapo , get behind the wheel for Sorcerer before rounding off with the pen raising The Lair of the White Worm.

Take a bite out of the Apple

Very happy to say that Midnight Video is now available on the iTunes.

You can find us if you search for Midnight Video in the podcast section, or you can follow this link to listen, but don't forget, to download the show it's best to hit the iTunes store and subscribe to us, that way you'll never miss a show.

Happy listening (and if you subscribe - thank you very, very much.)

A trailer glimpse of Midnight Video 2

Yes there is a film called The Black Gestapo and yes, we're going to review it baby.

Art from the films of Midnight Video 1

Apologies for the big "don't download images from our site" that people got before; shame as it was a corker.
Here's the link to what we found before: French Bad Taste poster

So.  Let's try again:

The idea of the posters is to give some kind of alternative artwork to the UK and US and video/DVD covers - this is not for profit.  If anyone is motivated enough to do alternative posters for films that we covered please, please, please get in touch and consider this a platform for your visual creativity - web graffiti ahoy!

Midnight Video debut

Well here it is.  Finally.  After some minor technical hitches (the internet's fault not ours).

We sincerely hope that you, the listener, glean some kind of useful, humorous or at the very worst, irreverent information from our ignorant prattle.  Our aim is to provide a podcast that in some kind of weird, digital futuristic way is akin to the fanzines that infiltrated the video stores and specialist magazines of the 80s and 90s ie. cut up, geeky, but most importantly heartfelt.

Simply click on the post's title to listen (or right click to download).

In this first edition of Midnight Video we introduce ourselves, run through what we hope to achieve and discuss three films that appear to have been forgotten because either the director has gone on to do bigger things (Bad Taste) or the actor has become more renowned for other films (North Sea Hijack)or the audience just didn't get what the movie was about (The Ninth Configuration).
